In April 2021, Indian brokerage firm Upstox suffered a data breach. The incident exposed extensive personal information about more than 100,000 customers, including names, gender, dates of birth, physical addresses, banking information and passwords in the form of bcrypt hashes. Extensive know-your-customer information was also revealed, including scans of bank statements, checks and identity documents with Aadhaar numbers.
